Roof ice melt bag

Stop the dam.
Before it starts.

Fill the Dam Ice mesh bag with ice melt suitable for your roof and gutters to help create a drainage channel through roof-edge ice dams.

The problem

An ice dam turns your roof into a bathtub.

Snow melts from attic heat, runs down the roof, then refreezes at the cold overhang above your gutters. That ridge of ice keeps growing until meltwater has nowhere to go but backward — under the shingles, into the deck, and down through your ceiling.

By the time you see a stain on the drywall, the water's already been in the attic for days.

How Dam Ice works

Cut a channel. Let gravity finish the job.

Fill the mesh bag with your chosen ice melt and position it across the ice dam to help create a path for trapped water to reach the gutter.

STEP 01

Locate the dam

Find the ridge of ice sitting at your roof edge, usually right above the gutter line.

STEP 02

Fill the mesh bag

Fill a Dam Ice mesh bag with your chosen ice melt, then pull the drawstring tight to close it.

STEP 03

Lay it across the dam

Position the filled bag perpendicular to the dam so it spans from above the ice to the open gutter.

STEP 04

Let it drain

The ice melt inside the bag creates a channel through the ice dam, giving trapped water a way out.
